Your dining room may be a separate room, or it may just be a corner of your living space, but regardless of where it is, it is an important space in your home that can bring your whole family together. Here are a few guidelines to keep in mind that will hopefully make choosing a dining room set easier.
The first thing you really have to think about before looking at new dining room sets is the size of table that your space can accommodate. You also want to make sure the table you choose is not too small for the space you have. This is especially true if you have a more traditional dining room space in your home. If you have an open floor plan, you will want to make sure the table you select matches the other cabinetry and furniture in the areas around your dining area.
Once you have a general idea of the size of table you need, you can think about what shape and style you would like. There are four basic table shapes: rectangle, square, circle and oval.
Rectangular tables are the most traditional and common for a good reason. This shape suits the form and function of a common eating space. Square tables are the least common and work better for small spaces with no more than six people.
Circular tables save space, especially is they have a pedestal leg (one in the middle of the table). Oval-shaped tables suit narrower spaces, but also save space. Both round and oval tables work better for smaller spaces and fewer people.
Don’t be afraid to take a look at several dining room sets to find the one that is right for you.
