Making the Most of Small Spaces: Dining Room Furniture Edition

Everyone needs to eat! Even though we might differ wildly about our favorite foods to eat, research has shown that having a designated dining space is important for many reasons. If your dining room is not set up for comfortable dining, then you might find yourself eating out or eating on your couch more often! If you have a small space, you can still have a great dining room space complete with dining room furniture. Here are a few tips that can make the most of your tight spaces.

  • Choose a Functional Banquette. A banquette is a great way to turn even the tiniest of spaces into a functional dining space. Built in banquette seating makes an unused wall or corner into functional eating space with flexible storage, making it a win-win!
  • Be Flexible with Seating Options. Dining room furniture does not always need to consist of a matching chair and table set! Consider using a desk that could double as a serving space when guests come over or a table that can fold onto the wall when not in use. Benches are great seating options for tight spaces where chairs might be impractical.
  • Use Vertical Space on Walls. Your walls can be great storage spaces when planned correctly. Consider using shelves instead of a heavy sideboard for storage. You could also look at mounting folding chairs onto a wall instead of leaving them out for seating.
