Home Office Organization Tips for W.F.H. Warriors

With more people than ever before working from home, either part-time or full-time, people everywhere are looking to create a home office that they can utilize to the fullest. At Gibson Brothers Furniture Inc., we want to help you enjoy your home office space with a few organizational tips that will ensure you stay productive, focused, and centered in your space. Here are a few of our suggestions:

  • Designate a space. Home office spaces don’t have to consist of their own separate room, which can be especially hard to find in smaller homes or apartments. Instead, choose a space that is carved out just for your work items and create a “working zone” around it. This can be a small corner with a desk or even a desk under a window, but make sure it is clean and ready for working.
  • Have natural light present. Whenever possible, have natural light present in your home office. Working in a windowless room can make a space feel cold and hostile, not to mention it can be difficult to see what you are doing!
  • Keep it organized. Organize your home office by utilizing different shelving, boxes or containers for workspace flow. Items that need to be referenced or filed should go together, while office supplies should be kept in a space all their own. Your desk should ideally only have your computer and/or phone on it.
  • Start and end a workday properly. Working from home can make the routine of starting and ending a workday blurry. Instead, try to designate a routine that signifies the start and end of a worktime, as well as breaktimes. This can be anything from opening up your laptop and then closing it to opening and closing the door.

We hope that these tips will be helpful for all our work-from-home warriors! For more home office tips, please contact us today.
